VoIP Services in Japan • Consumer level service VoIP as an optional service of ADSL : Free among the same ISP subscribers, : \7.5 – 8 / 3m throughout Japan among different ISP subscribers VoIP over Managed Network : Fusion IP Phone \20 /3m throughout Japan • Company level service - VoIP PBX - IP Centrex - VPN • IP Phone specific E.164 number - 050 came to be effective (October 23, 2003) 0AB-J number(the same E.164 number range as normal PSTN phone) can be assigned for the service satisfying specific QoS conditions GSC9, Seoul

Report of TTC NGN Study AG(1) Recognizing • ITU-T is developing NGN architecture related recommendations under the NGN-2004 project; • NGN architecture references IMS of 3GPP which may lead the way to FMC realization; • ITU-T SSG will study the relation between IMT-2000 and beyond and NGN in the next study period; • Regional/National SDOs have also started the study: TISPAN of ETSI Telecommunication Network Committee of TTA VoIP signalling by ATIS/T1 GSC9, Seoul

Report of TTC NGN Study AG(2) Recommends • TTC to expand the existing NGN Study AG to include chairman of NGN related working groups, e.g., architecture, signalling, network management, multimedia and IP-based IMT Platform(3GPP & 3GPP2) WGs ; • to continue the survey of NGN related activities of ITU-T, Regional/National SDOs and Fora; • and to propose the NGN standardization strategy to TTC Strategy Committee(SC).
