  2. Benevolent • Expression of goodwill or kindly feelings • The man was being benevolent to the older man.

  3. Complimentary • Expression of a compliment that is usually flattering. • The man gave a complimentary hello to the man entering the store.

  4. Forthright • Going straight to the point. • The driver ignored the turns and wen forthright to the city.

  5. Compassionate • Feeling of sorrow and sympathy towards another who has suffered a misfortune. • The girl was compassionate to her friend who lost her dog.

  6. Serene • Calm, peaceful, tranquil. • The ocean was serene.

  7. Sympathetic • Feelings or impulses of compassion • Everyone was sympathetic to the loss of a president.

  8. Objective • Something that one is intended to accomplish • The military’s objective was to kill Osama Bin Laden.

  9. Bewildered • To confuse or puzzle completely. • The riddle bewildered the man.

  10. Condescending • Showing or implying superiority • The pharaoh was condescending to his slaves.

  11. Desolate • Barren or laid waste. • After the nuke hit the land was desolate.

  12. Haughty • Disdainfully proud • The winner was haughty over his victory.

  13. indignant • Expression towards something unjust. • The man was indignant towards the bully.

  14. melancholy • Gloomy state of mind. • The kid was melancholy when he was alone.

  15. mocking • To attack or treat with ridicule • The bully was mocking the smart kids.

  16. Ominous • Portending evil or harm • There was an ominous wind the night of the murder

  17. Pessimistic • Tendency to see everything with a bad outcome. • Suicidal people are pessimistic.

  18. severe • Harsh, unnecessarily extreme. • The executioner was severe to his victims.

  19. solemn • Grave, sober, or mirthless • After the war there was solemn people with the loss of the family in the war.

  20. somber • Gloomily dark • When the moon was covered by clouds the night became very somber.

  21. suspicious • To believe someone to be guilty of an act • The police were suspicious of the man with the gun.

  22. irreverent • Not reverent • The dog was irreverent for he was wearing glasses.
