  2. Purpose of Spirit Groups • To promote CMM and the standards and ideals for students • To promote team spirit, dedication, sacrifice, honor, and friendship

  3. CMM Spirit Squads • 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Pep Squad • 7th grade Cheer • 8th grade Cheer • Starline (7th and 8th graders) • Mascot (8th grader ONLY) • Twirlers (any grade) • Flag Runners (7th and 8th graders)

  4. Code of Conduct • Must conduct yourself in accordance with CMM Code of Conduct at ALL times • Repeated disruptions, inattentiveness, or other misbehavior at practice or events will result in disciplinary action • Actions that reflect negatively on the team, while in or out of uniform, may be brought to parent sponsor and/or school administration

  5. Loss of Membership • Loss of Membership • School suspension • Failure to maintain 2.5 GPA • Repeated discipline problems reported by coach/parent sponsor

Approximate Cost of Uniform • Uniform (MUST BE ORDERED FROM SHREVEPORT GYMNASTICS BY June 1st) • Shell and skirt - $143.00 • Briefs - $7.99 • White midriff - $22.00 • Poms - $19.99 • Shoes - $33.99 • Bow - $5.99 • Practice tee - $9.99 • Practice shorts - $8.50 • Bag - $19.99 • Total - $271.44 • Optional warm-up suit - $63.95 • Total w/warm-up - $335.39 + $28.84 tax + Registration $25 = $389.23

  7. Pep Squad General Info • Two squads – one for each football team • Squad selection will be random and made by Spirit Board Chair and Principal. Requests for placement will not be accepted except in the case of multiples (i.e. twins). • Squad will be taught by a paid coach. • Girls wear their uniforms to school on Fridays throughout the year.

  8. Practice Attendance • MUST attend Cheer & Chant Camp on Thursday, August 8th from 8-12 at CMM • Held one day a week during football season immediately after school. Day TBA. • Other practices will be held during school year for important performance events such as Stallion Showcase.

  9. Game Attendance • 6th grade games are on Saturdays. The schedule is put together by the YMCA and is almost arrives at the last minute. • Squads will rotate attending 7th/8th Grade Football games. These are usually held on Tuesdays, beginning at 5:30 at Lee Hedges Stadium.

  10. Practice/GameAttendance • In order to tryout for a 7th or 8th grade Spirit Squad (Cheer, Starline, Mascot, Flag Runner), the student must have been a member, in good standing, of another spirit squad for an entire year. • Good standing is defined as: • Attending AT LEAST50% of all practices. • Attending AT LEAST50% of all 6th grade games to which your squad is assigned. • Attending AT LEAST50% of all 7th/8th grade games to which your squad is assigned. • Maintaining a 2.5 GPA • Maintaining a good discipline record, both in school and at practice/games.

  11. Approximate Cost of Participation • Monthly fees • Coach’s fees - $10 • Misc. expenses (parties, after school activities, etc.) - $5 • Total- $15 x 4 months = $60

  12. Parent Sponsor Duties • Promote discipline and maintain records relayed by coach (i.e.attendance, discipline issues) • Coordinate and communicate with squad, Spirit Board Chair, and School Administration • Act as a liaison between Coach and parents.

  13. Parent Support Positions • Positions include, but not limited to • Treasurer • Communication • Parties **ALL PARENTS WILL BE EXPECTED TO VOLUNTEER THEIR TIME IN SOME WAY. **CMM SPIRIT SQUADS ARE RUN EXCLUSIVELY BY THE PTSA, WHICH MEANS YOUR CHILD WILL BE REQUIRED TO JOIN.
