  1. My Science Fair Project By Tyler Moore

  2. The Big Question How do you purify water?

  3. Reason • I saw a thing about how you can purify water from your own home. • Then I heard about the science fair coming up and I thought that this could be the right time to see if it would work

  4. Hypothesis • The more heat you have, then more water that evaporate

  5. Reason • I just think that greater heat will make stuff evaporate faster

  6. Materials • Your are going to need: • three tin pans • Water • An oven • ½ measure cup • And a timer

  7. Reason • I need the tin pans to put the water in. • The water to watch it evaporate • The oven to use instead of the sun • The measuring cup to measure the amount of water in each tin pan • The timer to measure the time

  8. Steps • Get your materials • Preheat the oven to 170 degrees • Fill one of the bowls with half a cup of water • Put the bowl in the oven • Wait for three hours using the timer • Measure how much water is left • Record the data • Heat the oven to 250 degrees • Fill another bowl with half a cup of water

  9. Steps (cont.) 10. Put the bowl in the oven 11. Wait for three hours 12. Measure how much water is left 13. Record the data 14. Heat the oven to 300 degrees 15. Fill the bowl with half a cup of water 16. Put the bowl in the oven 17. Wait for three hours 18. Measure how much water is left 19. Record the data

  10. Data Try one Temperature: 170 degrees Time: 3 hours Water left: 1/3 cup Try two Temperature:250 degrees Time: 3 hours Water left: 1/8 cup

  11. Data (cont.) Try three Temperature: 300 degrees Time: 3 hours Water left: none

  12. Conclusion • I conclude that the more heat that you have, then the more water that evaporates. • I also conclude that my hypothesis was right, as you can see from this slide show.
