  1. Risk assessment and risk control

  2. The Accident

  3. 1. Find the Problem Now…… Be observant and responsible in your workplace and identify any potential problems. Report them to your OH&S committee or supervisor

  4. What was the cause of this accident? a.Poor shoe grip b.Overloaded trolley c.The grapes falling on the ground

  5. The grapes falling from the trolley to the floor.

  6. 2. Check it out Then…… Assess how the hazard can hurt someone and how badly they may get hurt. The greater the potential the greater the urgency to fix the problem.

  7. The grapes in the fruit department are loose and therefore fall on the floor easily. This is a serious problem both for staff and customers and needs to be addressed quickly

  8. 3.Fix It And…… If you are able to fix the problem yourself then do so immediately eg cleaning up the spill and putting out a beware sign. If not then you should inform the correct person so that a more permanent solution can be found.

  9. 1. Clean up the area and place a warning sign for the safety of staff and customers.

  10. 2. Try to find a long term solution. By placing the grapes in bags the chances of them falling on the ground are lessened.
