  5. The Renaissance Period • A period of rebirth in music • There were many progressions with technology • The church was at the heart of music in the Renaissance Period

  6. Secular Choral Music Secular Vocal Music was music not written for the Church. Prominent Composers of this style were William Byrd and Lassus. Lassus William Byrd

Madrigal A most important feature of these compositions was that they were through composed, usually with texts based on mythology, were contrapuntal in style with the voices interweaving with one another and usually contained passages of word painting, where the music illustrates the meaning of a particular word. What other concepts can you hear?
