  2. Welcome to Visioncite • The Vision Science Journal Citation Index of the Illinois College of Optometry (ICO) Library • A unique journal citation index which provides targeted access to vision science literature

What’s covered • All journals received by the ICO library are scanned for articles on: optometry, ophthalmology, contact lenses, reading and learning disabilities, practice management, perception, and other vision related subjects • Contains more than 313,000 articles • 114 journals are regularly indexed • Roughly 12,000 citations are added to the database annually • 1984-present

  5. From the main page you can: Quick search Advanced (Power) search Browse interesting items Browse journal titles

  6. Quick search Enter your search concept Select how/where you want to search Choose the VisionCite Database

Note Use the “Go Back” link within the blue bar for navigation Results List Citation Information Article title, author, journal abbreviation followed by full journal title, year volume, issue, pages URL link does not work for MCPHS at this time – coming soon! See next slide on how to retrieve full text Articles.

  8. Look up your citation using the e-Journal link (found on the MCPHS library Web page). • Enter the publication title. • If MCPHS has a subscription to the journal click on the link provided and look up • the article using the citation information. • If MCPHS does not have a subscription you will need to fill out an Interlibrary Loan • form (found on the MCPHS library Web page). • Note: Once the database is connected to the SFX link resolver, you will be able to go • directly to the article.   9. Advanced (power) search Click on the Power Search Enter search term concepts Select how/where you want to search Choose your Boolean operator Note XOR, “exclusive or”, will retrieve one or the other but not both terms Choose VisionCite Database
