  2. 2 Use of Technology • The use of technology in physical education today would be extremely beneficial • Today, many kids prefer to play video games to going outside to do physical activity

  4. 4 Equipment • Wii- video game console that promotes physical activity through the movements of the user • Controller (Wii Remote) • Nunchuk • Wii Balance Board

  5. 5 Software • Wii Fit- consists of activities such as yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance games • Wii Sports- consists of sports such as tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing

  6. 6 Software • Zumba Fitness- exercise program that helps tone muscles and build strength and endurance through dancing • Zumba Fitness 2- same as Zumba Fitness, except new songs and dances

  7. 7 Software • UFC Personal Trainer: The Ultimate Fitness System- exercise program that includes over 70 exercises inspired by wrestling, kickboxing, karate and other types of mixed martial arts

  9. 9 Equipment/Software • There are many other games that can be purchased for the Wii that encourage exercise • Many people use the Wii as their main exercise routine • The idea of using the Wii in class is that many kids today play more video games than they do exercise, so why not give them what they want in class, but at the same time have them do what we want them to do

  10. 10 • Students can be put into stations and the Wii game system can be one of them • Students can all come together as one class and follow along with the teacher as the teacher uses the actual game Use in the Classroom/Benefits • The Wii is extremely fun and easy • There are several ways that the students will be able to use the Wii in class

  11. 11 • It is very well priced for each of the items listed • Students will be getting their exercise and physical activity and they won’t even know it! • Overall, it is a great way to get the students to perform physical activity Benefits • The use of a Wii in physical education is smart • It’s fun! • It’s easy! • Students most likely play all types of video games at home so they will be familiar with it to some extent
