These colleges are also home to pharmacy courses to which students flock readily. Pharmacists trained at a pharmacy college in Raipur are an important cog in the healthcare machine in India. The work of a pharmacist is not simply picking a medicine off the shelf and handing it out but requires patient assessment of the ailment and condition, prescribing a medication, preparing the medicine and then dispensing it. These operations require a lot of skills. Some of these skills are: 1.Accuracy: Attention to detail in this career is a matter of life and death and there can be no room for error. We cannot stress enough that measuring the right ingredients correctly and accurately is tantamount to become a pharmacist. 2.Integrity: Humans make errors, most doctor’s now print out their prescriptions so one needs no more to struggle to understand their handwriting. But even a printed page could have typos and a pharmacist has to be confident enough to stand up with integrity to ask questions. 3.Science and Maths skills: Pharmacists rely on practical science and maths skills to calculate the pill numbers, pill size, complex and variable dosages, etc. They need a perfect blend of chemistry, biology and mathematics to assimilate and process information every second of the day. 4.Interpersonal skills: Pharmacists juggle between doctors and handle frustrated patients daily. A great deal of interpersonal skills is required to handle all parties diplomatically, patiently and with a sense of humor. 5.Communication skills: Handling patients, their questions and tantrums is a daily challenge for pharmacists. Communicating clearly with each patient to make them understand the medication details is necessary for the process to function without producing any side effects. With many people, they shall also need to be diplomatic at times and handle the situation without any escalations.Management skills: Pharmacists may need to supervise dispensers and technicians at some of the bigger organizations. They manage budgets, keep a track of the inventories and track the accounts for which perfect management skills are a must-have skill. They need to develop perfect financial acumen for many of the work they need to perform. They also need to be computer literates as healthcare systems are moving to the digital world. 6.Multitasking: Pharmacists are expert multitaskers. They answer calls, deal with patients, take care of various other functions of the pharmacy, regulatory protocols, etc. Handling all of these requires someone who can multitask while also being accurate. 7.Analytical mind: A good pharmacy college in Raipur always says that one needs to learn every day as knowledge is never enough.
