Topic 5-1 I can use divisibility rules to find factors and multiples of whole numbers.
Lesson Video • https://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com/snpapp/login/PsnLandingPage.jsp?showLandingPage=true&ticket=ST-2607798-0ZOPDMnSOlmpsroNZRz7-b3-rumba-prod-01-04
VocabularyI Say, You Say, We Clap • Multiple • A multiple of a given number is the product of that number and a whole number greater than 0 • 48 is a multiple of 6 because • 6 x 8 = 48 • Other multiples of 6 are 12, 18, 24, 30 • 48 is NOT a multiple of 5 because 5 does not go into 48
VocabularyI Say, You Say, We Clap • Divisible • A number is divisible by another number when the quotient is a whole number and the remainder is 0 • 20 is divisible by 5 because • 20 5 = 4 • 4 is a whole number and the remainder is 0 • 20 is not divisible by 3 because • 20 3 = 6r2
Quick Write • Have you ever had to divide up something among friends? Could you tell if it could be divided evenly? How did you know? • Write for 1 minute • Share with your partner
Area • A rectangle that has 12 squares can be drawn several ways.
How many ways? • Using your grid paper, draw as many different rectangles as possible that have 24 squares. • Write a multiplication fact for that describes the dimensions of each rectangle • Example • 2 x 6 = 12
20 • Work with your partner and use factors to find all the numbers by which 20 is divisible. • 1, 2, 4, 5, 10 and 20 • There are rules you can memorize about numbers and what they are divisible by……
Glue these rules into your math journal! Use them as much as possible and memorize them!
Use the divisibility rules to determine if the following numbers are divisible by 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and or 10.
