  3. General Dynamics F-16AM Fighting Falcon (401) FA-87 (cn 6H-87) Stunning Belgian tiger scheme F-16 arrives at the 2011 RAF Waddington International Airshow.

  4. General Dynamics F-16BM Fighting Falcon (401) FB-18 (cn 6J-18) Although it is still wearing the commemorative markings of the 20th anniversary of the Operational Conversion Unit in 2007, F-16BM FB-18 is the most modern aircraft (M6.1 software) of the F-16 fleet of the Belgian Air Force.

  5. General Dynamics F-16A Fighting Falcon (401) FA-79 (cn 6H-79) This F-16 must have had the shortest life of its type in the Belgian air force. Delivered 2 April 1984, it crashed exactly 4 months later after a mid-air collision with a French Jaguar. The pilot survived, unfortunately the French pilot was killed. Here in the colours of 23 smaldeel (=squadron). Only F-104G FX-08 had a even shorter life in the Belgian air force, spanning only two weeks.

  9. Lockheed F-104G Starfighter FX94 (cn 683-9164) Belgian Air Force Starfighter, preserved at a roundabout in Peer (pointing into the direction of Kleine Brogel AFB.

  10. Hawker Hunter F4 ID46 (cn AF-HCF 59) It may display IF70 as its registration, which would make it a Hunter F6, but it is in fact a painted-up Hunter F4 with ID46 as its identity. In the colours of the Belgian display team the Red Devils.

  18. Next slide : Gloster Meteor F8 EG-247 / SV-D (cn 6522) This Meteor was manufactured by Belgian licence production by Avions Fairey SA at Beauvechain in 1953. Operated by 29th and 33rd Squadrons at Brustem, 4th Squadron at Beauvechain and last-time by Fighter School at Koksijde. In 1985-86 was preserved at Bierset as EG244 code OV-A. In 1989 was exchanged for a MiG-15 to Kbely museum. First-time displayed in 1993 in blue/green camo as B2-R from Fighter School period and presently wears livery and code SV-D from service by 4th Squadron/1st Wing at Beauvechain.

Next slide : Dassault-Dornier Alpha Jet 1B AT18 (cn B18/1067) The special c/s Alpha Jet of the Belgian Air Component is seen here leaving its former homebase (EBBE) during the "Alpha-Jet Farewell day". It was extremely bad weather, the rain was pooring down and the cockpits were fogged up, while taxiing out for departure to its new destination, the airbase of Cazaux in the south of France.

  22. Next slide : Lockheed T-33A FT-24 (cn 580-7788) This T-Bird from the Belgian Air Force was taken on charge in 1954 and served till 1980, accumulating 1420 flying hours. It is here shown - preserved - at the Beauvechain Historical Center. The colors have faded since I saw her last (about 25 years ago)...

  34. Lockheed C-130H Hercules (L-382) CH-11 (cn 382-4482) What a very worn and dirty livery ! This C-130H delivered to Belgian Air Force in 2 April 1973.

  35. Fairchild C-119G Flying Boxcar CP-10 / OT-CAJ (cn 10690) A real vintage military aircraft now preserved near the barracks at Melsbroek. One of only two remaining Belgian Flying Boxcars.

  36. Fairchild C-119G Flying Boxcar CP-11 (cn 10685) Devoid of her former Belgian Air Force markings, this C-119G Flying Boxcar was in store at Koksijde in July 1988.

  37. Fairchild C-119G Flying Boxcar CP-10 / OT-CAJ (cn 10690) One of the few remaining C-119G Flying Boxcar (callsign: "OT-CAJ") of the Belgian Air Force, preserved - although in a poor state - between the buildings at EBMB.

Nex slide : Sup Supermarine 379 Spitfire FR14C SG-55 / GE-R (cn 6S/649170) Acceptance test at Cosford(UK)(9MU)on Aug 19, 1948 by LT Albert Laforce and delivered to 350 Sqn-1 Wing Belgian Airforce on Sep 01, 1948. Engine troubles forced the pilot to make a belly landing, sgt Harry Saeys was unhurt (Oct 11, 1948). First restoration with parts from SG46 and SG37 in 1977. Restoration to the highest standards finished and repainted in the original colors, rolled out Oct 20, 1997. This aircraft is ex MV246. Now she is preserved at the Royal Army & Military History Museum.

  40. Piper L-21B Super Cub (PA-18-135) LB-02 (cn 18-3607) At around 2005 these Pipers of the Belgian air cadets received 180hp engines. Here still fitted with the original 135hp engine.

  41. Fournier RF-5B PL70 (cn 510009) The Belgian cadets (in Flemish Luchtkadetten) operated this motorised glider. It later became OO-PLB.

  42. Percival P-31C Proctor 4 P-4 (cn H-578) The Belgian AF operated a small number of Proctors. This one is now preserved in the Koninklijk Legermuseum.

  44. Piper L-18C Super Cub (PA-18-95) OL-L87 (cn 18-3149) Delivered new to the USAF as 53-4749. Later transferred to the Belgian AF. Now preserved in the fabulous Belgique Musée Royal de l'Armée et d'Histoire Militaire.

  45. Next slide : Hanriot HD-1 HD-75 Built for the Belgian Air Force as HD-75, later registered as OO-APJ, G-AFDX and N75. The HD.1 biplane was rejected by the French Air Force, but was used widely by the Belgian and Italian Air Forces. The famous Belgian Willy Coppens used his HD.1 to great effect in WW1 - claiming 37 victories. He even landed on top of a German observation balloon, shut down the engine until his Hanriot slid off, then flew away and shot down the balloon.

  47. De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito NF30 MB-15 / ND-G Belgian AF Mosquito NF30 with unusual partial nose glazing arriving at Ringway for overhaul by Fairey Aviation. Returned to the BAF in September 1951 and scrapped in 1956.

  48. Gloster Meteor F8 EG-121 Fokker-built Meteor F.8 of the Belgian Air Force visiting Blackbushe during the 1955 Farnborough SBAC show week.

  49. De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito TT6 MC-2 Newly painted Mosquito for the Belgian Air Force after modification by Fairey Aviation at Ringway to the target tug role from the RAF's FB.6 TE663. The aircraft served the Belgians until 1956 and was then scrapped.

  50. Schleicher ASK-13 PL65 This Belgian glider was a rare appearance at the static of the 1993 Kleine Brogel air show. Special paint scheme for 35 years Belgian Air Cadets
