  2. Nació el 4 de marzo de 1678 en Venecia. Estudió junto a su padre, Giovanni Battista, apodado Rossi (el Pelirrojo), que fue violinista en la catedral de San Marcos. En 1703, se ordenó sacerdote y es llamado "ilpreterosso" (el cura pelirrojo). Parece ser que no siempre puede cumplir con sus obligaciones debido a su mala salud. Se sabe que sufría complicaciones respiratorias, posiblemente asma o angina. Fue acusado de abandonar el oficio de la Misa por atender a su inspiración. Comenzó a enseñar en un conservatorio de niñas huérfanas, el OspedaledellaPietá, donde permaneció hasta 1740 como profesor mientras componía conciertos y oratorios para los conciertos semanales. Autor de más de 500 conciertos y 70 sonatas, 45 óperas, música religiosa como el oratorio Judithatriumphans (1716),
