  8. What want we study? • The potential of non-linear speech processing techniques like a predictive model (neural nets, Volterra filters, etc.) instead of LPC (or combined with LPC) • Modulation, fractal methods, etc (Maragos)

  9. What will we consider “non-linear?” • I propose to use a wide definition in order to achieve that a lot of people can contribute to COST-277

  11. 5. Agreement on the internal rules of procedure for the committee

  12. Rules for the refund of your expenses

  13. 6. Election of chairperson • Initially, my opinion was that it would be better a researcher with long experience on the topic of COST-277 (indeed we have several people in such situation). • Now, I think that perhaps it is more important the patience/time for bureaucracy I propose myself • Please, feel free to express your opinions/nominations.

  14. 6. Election of vice-chairperson • I want to propose Gernot Kubin. • Please, feel free to express your opinions/nominations.

  15. 6. Election of working-groups leaders • We don’t need to decide this question now, but we must begin to work!. • Some propositions?

  16. 7. Decision on secretariat • Grant Holder = CTT of UPC (technology Transfer Center of the Politechnical University of Catalonia) • What should the secretary do? • Collect the information for the reimbursement of expenses. • The transcription of the meetings

  19. 9. Discussion of the programme, overall time schedule and organisation of the action activities • 2 anual meetings • 1 workshop • 1 seminar

  20. Previous/after a well established conference Other days When should we do the activities?

  21. Which days will be the actions (July 2001-July 2002 years)? • 2 Meetings • Workshop • Seminar • We can propose external experts that can be invited to this actions ( total budget for each action: 5000 EUR)

  22. 10. Relationship between COST 277 and other COST actions • We MUST keep in touch with: • 275:Biometrics-Based Recognition of People Over the Internet. • 278:Spoken Language Interaction in Telecommunication. • Please, feel free to join these actions if you are interested on them.

  23. 10. Relationship between COST 277 and other activities • We should try to establish “Special Sessions” about NL inside the “big conferences”. • I think that you can try to achieve more “national funds” in your future research projects. (COST-277 is an added value to your national projects). • Ex.: We are trying to set up a thematic network in Catalonia.

  24. Who can contribute to COST-277 and is not yet with us ...? • Special effort on new countries • For example H. Hermansky • But also with persons of countries that have already sign and don’t participate. DISSEMINATION!
