Collaborative Procurement Hubs • Improved support for clinicians and clinical networks by increasing their involvement in purchasing • Stronger partnerships with suppliers • Encouragement for innovation and provision of support for R&D • Building a robust, sustainable environment for procurement

  6. We will…. • CEP will aim to be ‘front end’ for evaluation, providing a ‘once only’ approach and prompt sharing of outputs with stakeholders across the NHS and social services • We will gather evidence globally, acting as ‘information agents’ pulling different strands of evidence together to facilitate intelligent decision making • Less technical evaluation and greater emphasis on the assessment of value and cost effectiveness • Develop nationally agreed protocols that can be used locally to ensure consistency of approach

  7. We don’t….. • Cover drugs food or furniture • Double check CE marking • Provide a marketing service for companies • Duplicate other organisations efforts e.g NICE MHRA HTA

  8. Outputs • Evidence reviews • Nationally agreed evaluation protocols • Evaluation Reports • Buyers guides

  9. Current Project • Submitted by emPower • Subject: pain free socket interfaces • Evidence review is the first step • May lead to an evaluation protocol • Outcome of any work we do will be in the public domain

  10. Progress to date • Boxes of evidence to review!! • CEP’s focus will be on the measurement manufacture and fitting aspects of prosthetic limbs. • Pain free likely to be impossible to achieve.
