  5. FILE 09 – Cinema 4K • 4K Cinema: • High-Resolution - 4X Full HD Resolution • Bandwidth of300-700 Mbpsfor compressed transmission withJPEG2000. • Q&A session: • Video-Conference in compressed HD (720p) with San Diego (~ 1 Mbps). • Video-Conference inuncompressed Full HDwithJapan(~ 1.3 Gbps).

  9. Overview • Our first experience involved: • Brazil: • USP (University of São Paulo). • Spain: • UAB (Universitat Autonoma of Barcelona). • University Ramon Llull of Barcelona. • Music School of Sabadell. As far as we know it was the first Master Class of Art involving Brazil and Europe.

Overview • Our goal is to foster Master Classes of Art among different international universities and institutions making use of the Internet. • The usage of sophisticated resources of Advanced Internet should not be mandatory. • Our first challengeis to promote the collaboration among professors and students in order to teach and learn arts using Internet. • When it is possible, the resources of Advanced Internet should be deployed.

Overview • Combination of telepresence and conference tools, like DTVS and Conference XP, and HD quality digital formats for 35mm film were tested. • In the Music Master class, it was given priority to music (audio) over video. • Conference XP with uncompressed audio (CD quality ) and compressed video. • In the Cinema Master class, there was a balance between high quality video and sound. • Conference XP with compressed video.

Cinema Master Class • Demonstrate how to use Internet as a medium to teach and learn about Cinema in an interactive way involving remote sites. • The film shown was “Spread through the Air” by Vera Egito. • Participation: • Prof. Esther Hamburgo - School of Communication and Arts of USP – Brazil. • Prof. Jordi Roigé - Facultat de Comunicació Blanquern  of the Universitat Ramon Llull, Barcelona – Spain.

Piano Master Class • An interactive class involving students from University of São Paulo, Brazil and the Music School of Sabadell, Spain. • First Presentation: Preludio by Debussy • Second Presentation: Etude by Scriabin • Participation: • Prof. Jose Feghali - TCU (Texas Christian University), USA (He was in Brazil). • Prof. Eduardo Monteiro School of Communication and Arts of USP – Brazil. • Prof. Josep Gil - Music School of Sabadell, Spain.

Cultural Ring • Building an e-infrastructure for Arts and Culture in Europe and beyond. • Project by i2Cat Barcelona, Spain. http://www.i2cat.net • Brazil should participate • Some institutions such as Brazilian Cinemateca (National Archive for films), Cultural Center of São Paulo (similar to Pompidou Center in Paris), National Library of Rio de Janeiro, among others. • Support from RNP (National Network for Education and Research) and Ministery of Culture. • Open for International Participation

Final Considerations • Our goal is to establish permanent collaboration between art institutions and schools from Brazil and other countries. • Investment on improving internalnetwork connections (fiber connections). • Need for training students and staff on video and audio transmission techniques.

  21. Final Considerations • Participation in the Cultural Ring initiative. • Collaboration with partners in CineCrid and Internet 2.
