Core Tasks Physical Therapist • Perform physical exams to assess patients’ conditions • Design treatment plans to help patients achieve as much movement as possible • Treat patients using soft tissue massage, lasers, and other techniques • Teach exercises and stretches to patients • Monitor and document patients’ progress Professional Athlete • Maintain physical fitness through weightlifting, running, and other activities • Practise their sport in drills, scrimmages, and exhibition games • Mentally prepare for competitions • Compete in games or matches • Receive treatment for injuries or strains if necessary

Workplace Physical Therapist • Work for hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, schools, athletic departments, community health centres, research centres, and rehab centres • Some are self-employed • The work can be physically demanding • Most work 8 to 10 hours a day • Evening and weekend work is common Professional Athlete • Employed by sports teams and leagues, or compete independently in tournaments • Work indoors or outdoors • May spend a lot of time away from home • Usually only compete for part of the year, but must train all year long • At risk of injuries

Why I love these careers Physical Therapist • I love this career because I will be able to help people go through what they are through and I will be able to help them with any injuries they have Professional Athlete • I Love this career because it is what I dreamed about all my life and I will be able to be a roll model for the community.

Physical Therapist • This career may not be the best choice for me because I don’t have that good of people skills, but I am working on them for this job. Professional Athlete • This career may not be the best choice for me because I would be away from home to much or to long. Also I would be working cazy hours.
