  2. How do I know if you are putting forth the effort? Through the use of heart rate monitors!!! “People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily.”

  3. One of the secrets to optimal fitness isn't just the amount of exercise. It's the intensity level of exercise achieved! Benefits: • Useful with goal setting • Makes them their own motivator • Learn about their body

  4. Teacher perks • Grading made easy • Watches help take the guess work away • Less discretion about effort

  5. Using Heart Rate Monitors • Elastic band snaps onto the transmitter • Water on transmitter • Transmitter snug below the nipple line • Watch started (next slide…)

  6. Watch Steps: • Start screen • Press red button once • Once heart rate shows press red button again to start timer

  7. After activity is over: • Stop button. Bottom left button (square) • Press the top right and then the red button twice • Record max and average heart rate and total activity time • Press top right three times to get the total time in zone, above zone and below zone

  9. Different settings to use them in • Running, jump roping, cardio workouts • Individual sports (pickle ball, handball, badminton) • Students to check out over the weekend • During fitness tests such as 12 minute run and mile run • Team sports

  10. Helping students to be familiar with them • Wear them every other class period • Have them teach other students • Bring home over weekend and teach family members • Create own projects or power points presentations on them
