DESD web portal Since October 2003, UNESCO has developed this interactive website to: • prepare and build momentum for the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014). • offer snapshots of progress made during the Decade. • provide ESD related information in English, French and Spanish. • give visibility to regional, national and international Education for Sustainable Development activities, initiatives and events.

DESD web portal • focus on Key Action Themes such as: Quality Education, Environment, Sustainable Consumption, Sustainable Urbanisation, Peace & Human Rights, Rural Development, Gender Equality, Health Promotion, Media & ICTs, Cultural Diversity, Indigenous Knowledge. • disseminate tools (publications, materials, educational kits, questionnaires, etc.) that can be used by ESD educators and professionals in their activities. • constantly evolving with the inputs from various partners, practitioners, and colleagues from the fields of Education, Science, Social Science, Culture, Communication and Public information.
