  8. THE GREMLINS (1943): Thisis the first book written by Roald Dahl. It’s about mythical creatures, Gremlins, which destroy British planes, because their houses in forest are in danger-they stand on the way for an aircraft factory. It was written for Walt Disney. CHARLIE AND THE CHOCLATE FACTORY (1964): In this book, we can read about adventures of young, poor boy-Charlie Bucket, who, one day, wins a ticket to a fabulous chocolate factory. This great title is also filled in by many interesting characters, like, my favourite one, Willi Wonka! „Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator” is the sequel of this lecture. THE MAGIC FINGER (1966):The narrator of this story is an eight year old unnamed girl. Her neighbours are the Greek family, and their main entertainment is hunting ducks, only for fun. The girl has an incredible, magic power: „the magic finger” She decides to make some use of it and give her neighbours short lesson. FANTASTIC MR FOX (1970): A name of the main character of this book, which is a fox, is very original: „Mr Fox”. Mr Fox is well known as a chicken’s thief, not tolerated by farmers, who wants to get rid of him.Of course our fantastic russet animal won’t give up without fight!

  9. THE TWIST (1980): Mr and Mrs Twits. The Twits. This ugly, naughty couple spend all their life on doing nasty tricks and maltreating animals. Fortunately, one day everything get changed, because of Roly-Poly Bird-a guest from Africa. THE BFG (1982): Big Friendly Giant. Have you ever wondered how amazing would be to have a friend-giant? Sophie knows it. This little girl, who is hero of this book, one night meets a friendly giant, in her own bedroom. That is only the beginning of this incredible story! THE WITCHES (1983): The Witches are among us. Everywhere. A little boyknows about it more, than he would like to. His parents died in a car accident and he became an orphan. His only minder is his grandma, telling him many frightening fairy tails about witches. One day the nightmares come true. MATILDA (1988): This book tells us a sad story about Matilda-a child, whom parent don’t have time for her. Her incredibly intelligence causes, that after she is five, she reads Hemingway or Dickens.
