WHO ARE THE MEMBERS? • Belgium : Isabel. • France : Cartes Bancaires, Société Générale, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole. • Italy : Societá Interbancaria per L’Automazione, Associazione Bancaria Italiana. • Portugal: Sociedade Interbancária de Serviços. • Spain : la Caixa, Sermepa, Iberion, BBVA, BSCH, Banesto. • Switzerland : Swisskey. • The Netherlands : Interpay.

  6. EUROPE • SEEKING TO COMPLY WITH, AND PROMOTE THE EUROPEAN DIRECTIVE ON ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE. • RECEIVED FUNDING FROM THE EU ISIS PROJECT. • WISH TO PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN THE WORK OF EESSI.

  7. EESSI • GTA OPERATIONAL RULES MANDATE CONSISTENCY WITH THE BASELINE CERTIFICATION POLICY. • GTA & MTAs NOT ISSUING CERTIFICATES TO END USERS. • NOT MANDATORY FOR STAs TO ISSUE QUALIFIED CERTIFICATES. • TIME STAMPING RECOMMENDED.

  8. CURRENT STATUS • GTA REGISTERED ON 21 AUGUST 2000. • GTA OFFICE OPENED IN BRUSSELS ON 18 SEPTEMBER 2000. • GTA ROOT KEY WILL BECOME OPERATIVE AT INTERPAY BEFORE END-OCTOBER 2000. • TEST BED Q4 2000. • APPLICATIONS Q4 2000.

  9. CONCLUSION THE GTA TO PROVIDE A SECURE INFRASTRUCTURE FOR CROSS BORDER E-COMMERCE TRANSACTIONS IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE EU DIRECTIVE ON ELECTRONIC SIGNATURE.
