COLOR THEORY. 7TH GRADE 2ND PARTIAL. PRIMARY COLORS. SECONDARY COLORS. TERCIARY COLORS. LIGHT IS MADE UP OF COLORS. WHEN IT PASSES THROUGH A PRISM LIGHT IS SEPARATED INTO COLORS: RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, VIOLET. THESE ARE THE COLORS THAT MAKE UP THE RAINBOW.

  5. LIGHT IS MADE UP OF COLORS. WHEN IT PASSES THROUGH A PRISM LIGHT IS SEPARATEDINTO COLORS: RED, ORANGE, YELLOW, GREEN, BLUE, VIOLET. THESE ARE THE COLORS THAT MAKE UP THE RAINBOW. COLORS ARE DIVIDED INTO PRIMARY, SECONDARY, AND TERCIARY. • PRIMARY COLORS: ARE PURE, CANT BE MADE . Ex. RED, YELLOW, BLUE • SECONDARY COLORS : ARE MADE BY MIXING TWO PRIMARY COLORS . • RED + BLUE = VIOLET BLUE + YELLOW = GREEN RED + YELLOW = ORANGE • TERCIARY COLORS: ARE MADE BY MIXING A PRIMARY AND A SECONDARY COLOR. • EX. RED ORANGE, BLUE GREEN , RED VIOLET

COLOR HARMONIES THESE ARE COLORS USED TOGETHER IN A COMPOSITION CREATING ORDER, UNITY AND A PLEASURABLE VIEW . • MONOCHROMATIC HARMONY: WHEN ONLY ONE COLOR IS USED WITH ALL ITS TINTS AND SHADES. • ANALOGOUS HARMONY: WHEN THREE COLORS NEXT TO EACH OTHER IN THE COLORWHEEL ARE USED IN ACOMPOSITION. EX. RED, RED ORANGE, ORANGE • COMPLEMENTARY HARMONY: WHEN TWO COLORS THAT ARE OPPOSITE TO EACH OTHER IN THE COLOR WHEEL ARE USED. EX. RED AND GREEN, BLUE AND ORANGE, YELLOW AND VIOLET. • TRIAD HARMONY: WHEN 3 COLORS FROM THE COLOR WHEEL THAT FORM AN EQUILATERALTRIANGLES ARE USED IN A COMPOSITION. EX. RED, YELLOW, AND BLUE, VIOLET, ORANGE AND GREEN OR RED ORANGE, YELLOW GREEN, AND BLUE VIOLET

A COLOR CAN HAVE A FEW SHADES. WHITE + BLACK = GRAY YELLOW + BLACK =GREEN OLIVE ORANGE + BLACK = BROWN BLUE + BLACK= BLUE MARINE

COLORS AFFECT OUR BODIES • YELLOW: IT’S A MENTAL AND NERVOUS STIMULUS • ORANGE;: HELPS DIGESTION • RED; INCREASES MUSCULAR TENSION AND BLOOD PRESSURE • GREEN: CALMS AND REDUCES BLOOD PRESSURE • BLUE:: LOWERS TENSION • VIOLET: CALMS ACCORDING TO PSYCHOLOGY COLORS AFFECT OUR FELLINGS AND ACTIVITIES: • YELLOW: SUGGESTS HAPPINESS, ACTION, WILL, POWER AND DYNAMISM • ORANGE: STIMULUS, ACTION, ENTHUSIASM • RED: HEAT, HEART, EXCITEMENT, PASSION, BLOOD, STRENGTH • PINK: INNOCENCE • GREEN: RELATED TO VEGETATION, CALMNESS, FRESHNESS, HOPE, REALITY, EQUILIBRIUM • BLUE: INFINITY, INTELLIGENCE, COLDNESS, PIECE, SECURITY • VIOLET: SADNESS, PENITENCE, MISTERY. (WITH RED ADDED IS: ROYALTY, DIGNITY) WHITE: PEACE, PURITY, CLEANESS • BLACK: DEATH, DESTRUCTION,MOURN

COLOR PREFERENCES • AMONG PRIMITIVE TRIBES PEOPLE PREFER PURE AND BRIGHT COLORS. • MEN TEND TO PREFER BLUE • WOMEN TEND PREFER RED • ELDERS PREFER COLD COLORS SUCH AS BLUES, DARK GREENS, BROWN AND GRAY • CHILDREN PREFER ORANGE, RED-VIOLET, AND BLUE. MOST OF THEM PREFER WARM VIVID COLORS. • PEOPLE LIVING IN WARM PLACES PREFER WARM COLORS SUCH AS YELLOWS, ORANGES, AND YELLOW GREENS. • PEOPLE LIVING IN COLD PLACES PREFER COOL COLORS SUCH AS BLUES, BLUE GREENS, AND VIOLETS.

  21. COLORS IN INDUSTRY A SPECIFIC COLOR SHOULD BE USED DEPENDING ON THE TYPE OF INDUSTRY AND ENVIRONMENT YOU WANT TO CREATE. AS WE KNOW ,COLORS AFFECT HUMANS IN DIFFERENT WAYS; THEYCAN MAKE A NICE ,WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND MAKE PEOPLE WORK MORE EFFICIENTLY. A PLACE WHERE THERE IS FIRE OR HEAT SHOULD BE PAINTED IN COOL COLORS LIKE BLUE. PLACES THAT ARE COLD AREAS SHOULD BE PAINTED IN WARM COLORS LIKE RED AND ORANGES BECAUSE THEY GIVE A WARM SENSATION.

  22. FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS ARE USUALLY PAINTED IN WARM COLORS PRODUCING A SENSATION OF MOVEMENT.CLIENTS WILL BE EATING FAST AND LEAVING SO NEW CUSTOMERS CAN COME IN. DEPARTMENT STORES ARE PAINTED IN COOL COLORS WHICH GIVE A SENSATION OF CALMNESS ; PEOPLE CAN STAY LONGER, CALMLY,LOOKING AT MOST OF THE THINGS IN THE STORE SO THEY CAN BUY MORE. HOSPITALS ARE PAINTED IN WHITE OR VERY LIGHT COLORS SHOWING CLEANESS AND TRANQUILITY.
