What’s the difference? • Economics – the way in which people use resources to produce, sell, or trade goods and services to meet their needs and wants. • Making the money • Who’s going to buy it? • How am I going to produce it? • How am I going to get the product out there? • Industry – A group of businesses that produce certain goods or services. • Creating the product • Providing the service

  3. Questions • What did colonists need when they moved to the colonies? • Where did they get these goods? • Why are jobs important? • Why are jobs created?

  4. Activity • Take you iPad and access the rockwall ISD website • Authenticate by typing your lunch number and password • Using your iPad, access the socrative app • For Room Number enter 22974 • Wait for further insturctions

  5. Questions about Colonial Jobs • Are any of these jobs in existence today? • What do these jobs have in common? • Why do you think these jobs developed? • When a person performed one of these jobs, what do you think he did with the money he made?

  6. Differences Between Types of Businesses Which of these is closest to what we have now in America?

  7. Create an Industry/Economic Map • Using the Colonial Industries page, create a map showing where these industries would have been found in Colonial times. • Cut one picture at a time and glue it on the map in the correct place.
