3. Citation reports come with our Xite interface The Xite 7.0 interface provides quick access to areas of interest. Data queries are already set up in the Summary analysis! You can make your own subsets through the Restrict Search feature (restrict by author, country, journal, field, year, organization, article type, or words in title, abstract or keywords) Source: The population of papers that answer the core question of the sample or project. Citing: Papers that cite or use at least 1 paper from the source papers as a reference item. Cited: Papers used in the bibliography of the source papers.

Expected Citation Rate: An average rate of citation for all the papers of that document type (articles, reviews, letters, etc.), in that journal, for that selected year. This is a metric to evaluate citation counts. • 4. Ratio: Ratio of actualcites to expected • cites (actual cites / expected citation rate) • 5. Field: Subject area for the journal in which the paper appeared. • 6. %: Percentile position of the paper based on citations in the same field.

10. Author Rankings Who are the thought leaders on a topic? How many papers have they written? How many cites do they have? Tip: See the articles by double clicking on the number in the Papers column.

11. Country Rankings – Summary by Country What countries are working on the selected topic or in the selected journal? Tip: This is sorted by papers. Consider the number of cites in relation to papers.

12. Co-authors – Collaboration by Author Who are collaborators? Who partners with the thought leaders in the field? Tip: You can sort by number of papers or alphabetically by author.

13. Journal Rankings – Summary by Journal What journals are being used by researchers in the field? Articles from the multidisciplinary journals Nature, Proceedings.., and Science are re-categorized by their cited references. Tip: Check the citing papers to see who is citing the journal.

14. Field Rankings – Summary by Field What field(s) dominate a topic, country’s or institution’s papers? Are there any surprises? Tip: Sort options include cites, papers, average cites or field.

15. Field Rankings – Summary by Organization What organizations are represented in the literature? Tip: Sort options include cites, organization, papers, or average cites.
