  3. PTHS Graduation Requirements Courses for 2017 & beyond… **Students must show proficiency on state required assessments or related project-based assessments.

  4. Prerequisite: Required or necessary as a prior condition. Please notice the bold prerequisite indicated under each course title.Example:0215 Global Studies HonorsPrerequisite: “A” in eighth grade social studies course and teacher recommendation. Be Sure to Check Prerequisites for all Courses

  5. Students select courses to reflect their range of understanding, abilities, and/or learning style differences. We require teacher recommendations for many courses and encourage you to conference with your current teachers for the right choice for you. Course Levels

  6. Course Levels • Foundations or Investigations: Courses for students who may require a basic approach to the subject. Teacher recommendation. • Academic: Courses for students who are planning on attending a four year college or university. • Honors : courses for students who are planning on attending a four year college or university and are looking for a challenging and rigorous course load.

  7. Consider time and goals… How many is too many Honors courses? How much homework am I going to have? What does my afterschool schedule look like? Should I schedule a full year study hall? What are my plans after high school? College? Do I have a college in mind?

Tips for a Successful High SchoolExperience • Get Organized • Manage your time wisely • Use a planner (you may purchaseone at the HS) • Develop good study habits • Be prepared for class • Review class notes daily (no cramming!) • Complete all assignments • Monitor your progress with Power School • Get Involved • Clubs, Sports, Community Service

Student Name Scheduling Online • Go to https://powerschool.pt-sd.org/public and use your student login and password. • Then click on the Class Registration icon on the top row • Before submitting your schedule selections, please review each category to ensure all sections have been completed and at least 6.0 credits have been selected. If the on-line form is incomplete after submitting, the program will require you to start all over with your selections.

  19. Print the Future Course Requests’ screen in “Landscape” after you SUBMIT your requests. You must have your parents sign and date the bottom. Givethe printout to your Social Studies teacher or Mrs. Kenny by March 14, 2014. You may want to Print an additional copy for your records! Final schedule requests must be completed by March 14, 2014. Scheduling Online
