  2. Every 10 years, the U.S. Census Bureau counts every resident in the United States.

  3. The federal government uses census information in many ways. It makes political decisions. The census information affects how many seats your state occupies in the U.S. House of Representatives.

  4. Lawmakers make economic decisions. The government decides how much money to spend on job training centers and public works projects. These men are at a career training center. Public works projects include highways and bridges.

  5. The government makes social decisions. The government decides to build hospitals and schools. Lawmakers provide emergency services to the Community.

  6. The U.S. Census Bureau has many temporary job positions open for census takers.

  7. A census taker conducts interviews.

  8. She explains the purpose of the census.
