  2. Differentiating Instruction According to Eligible Content in 3 Easy Steps • Step One: Interpreting 4Sight Test Results • Step Two: Grouping Students • Step Three: Matching Instruction

  3. Step One: Interpreting 4Sight Test Results • Reviewed 4Sight Assessment Reading Results (Chart A) • Identify classroom-level strengths and weaknesses using the 4Sight Reading Report by Eligible Content (Chart B) • Choose target students by using 4Sight Reading Student List (Chart C)

Step Two:Grouping Students • Using 4Sight Reading by Eligible Content Detail830 (Chart D), place any students scoring less than 80% in each eligible content category into groups (Chart E). • If more than 80% of the whole class is not proficient in the eligible content category, a whole group lesson in necessary. • Then, list the eligible content groups with students names. • Highlight target students.

  5. Step Three:Matching Instruction • 2007-2008 PSSA Test Blueprint (Chart F) • Based on Chart E, identify eligible content areas that need addressed whole-group (Chart G). • Based on Chart E, identify eligible content groups that need addressed in small groups (Chart H).

Advantages of Teaching By Eligible Content • It is an easy way to identify individual students’ strengths and weaknesses. • Activities for differentiating instruction are already included in the Macmillan curriculum. • The 4Sight test is a mirror to the PSSA. • You can avoid teaching unnecessary whole-group lessons.
