  1. Clouds Stacey Inouye EDU 204 Information Technology in Teaching Nevada State College Dr. Graziano January 27, 2012 Kindergarten

  2. Introduction • Have you ever looked up at the sky and watched the clouds? • Do you notice how the clouds sometimes look different? • Have you ever wondered if clouds have names like you do? • We are going to learn all about the clouds in the sky – what they do and why!

  3. What to Learn? • You will discover as many different clouds and their names as you can. • You will discover what clouds are made of, and what is inside of them. • We will put everything you discovered on a chart so you will be able to tell what clouds are in the sky any time you want!

  4. What to do? • Everyone will be working individually to find cloud information. ELL & SN Students can work with partners or paraprofessionals if necessary to complete tasks. • Your first job is to find the different clouds and their names. • Your second job is to find what clouds are made of and/or what is inside them.

  5. Where to Look! You can find out about clouds on these websites: • http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/cloud3.html • http://www.kidskonnect.com/subject-index/15-science/67-clouds.html • http://www.kidsgeo.com/geography-for-kids/0109-clouds.php • http://eo.ucar.edu/webweather/cloudhome.html • http://www.weatherwizkids.com/weather-clouds.htm

  6. Now the Fun Part! • As you discover the names of the clouds – write each name in a box on your chart. • Don’t worry if the names look big – just copy them as best you can • Using the craft supplies in the box in the middle of your tables – make the cloud whose name you just wrote down.

  7. Don’t Forget… Remember to: • Get the name of the cloud • Find out what it is made of – or what is inside the cloud. For crafting clouds you can: • Use whole cotton balls for poufy clouds – or pull them apart for wispy clouds. • Use glitter or sequins for rain or snow. • Have fun and use your imagination!

  8. Your Grade You will get a gold star if you: • Fill all of the boxes on your chart with different kinds of clouds. • Try your best to write all of the cloud names on your chart. • Write your name on your chart. You will get a silver star if you: • Fill some of the boxes on your chart with different kinds of clouds. • Try your best to write some of the cloud names on your chart. • Write your name on your chart. You will not get any star if you: • Do not fill in any of the boxes on your chart at all. • Do not try to write any of the cloud names on your chart. • Do not write your name on your chart.

  9. …And We’re Done! Wow check out your Cloud Chart! • Now you know the names of each cloud and what they look like! Impress your family and friends! • Next time you go outside take your cloud chart with you so you can tell everyone what clouds are in the sky!
