  • Have you ever looked up at the sky and watched the clouds?

  • Do you notice how the clouds sometimes look different?

  • Have you ever wondered if clouds have names like you do?

  • We are going to learn all about the clouds in the sky – what they do and why!


What to learn
What to Learn?

  • You will discover as many different clouds and their names as you can.

  • You will discover what clouds are made of, and what is inside of them.

  • We will put everything you discovered on a chart so you will be able to tell what clouds are in the sky any time you want!

What to do?

  • Everyone will be working individually to find cloud information. ELL & SN Students can work with partners or paraprofessionals if necessary to complete tasks.

  • Your first job is to find the different clouds and their names.

  • Your second job is to find what clouds are made of and/or what is inside them.

Now the fun part
Now the Fun Part!

  • As you discover the names of the clouds – write each name in a box on your chart.

  • Don’t worry if the names look big – just copy them as best you can

  • Using the craft supplies in the box in the middle of your tables – make the cloud whose name you just wrote down.

Remember to:

  • Get the name of the cloud

  • Find out what it is made of – or what is inside the cloud.

For crafting clouds you can:

  • Use whole cotton balls for poufy clouds – or pull them apart for wispy clouds.

  • Use glitter or sequins for rain or snow.

  • Have fun and use your imagination!

You will get a gold star if you:

  • Fill all of the boxes on your chart with different kinds of clouds.

  • Try your best to write all of the cloud names on your chart.

  • Write your name on your chart.

You will get a silver star if you:

  • Fill some of the boxes on your chart with different kinds of clouds.

  • Try your best to write some of the cloud names on your chart.

  • Write your name on your chart.

You will not get any star if you:

  • Do not fill in any of the boxes on your chart at all.

  • Do not try to write any of the cloud names on your chart.

  • Do not write your name on your chart.

  • Now you know the names of each cloud and what they look like!

Impress your family and friends!

  • Next time you go outside take your cloud chart with you so you can tell everyone what clouds are in the sky!
