  2. BABY ROOT CANAL A root canal can be performed on either a permanent or a baby tooth in a child. Baby teeth are supposed to fall out. However, the teeth must remain in place for a sufficient amount of time. If a baby tooth is lost too soon, the youngster may experience speech or biting issues. The spacer's operation and fit will be checked at each recall session. The space maintainer will have to be removed at some point in order for the permanent tooth to erupt.
