  3. Glenmorangie • Background: One of the smallest of all Northern Highland Distilleries • A. Location: 40 Miles north of Inverness on the A9, overlooking the Dornach Firth between Tain and Edderton, looking across the Firth to the hills of Sutherland

  4. Glenmorangie • 1. Water: Springs in the Tarblogie Hills above the distillery. • 2. History: • A converted brewery(1843), rebuilt in 1979. • a. Pioneered “wood finishes”(e.g., sherry, wine, fino, etc.) • b. Use bourbon refill casks hand-picked from Missouri

Tallest stills used in Scotland(16ft., 10"), which they feel give the product its distinctive character. • e. Glenmorangie means “Glen of Tranquility” • f. They “claim” that none of their product goes into blends–controversial! .

  7. Glenmorangie • Nose: • 15 YO • Rich, full, honeyed, distinctive lemon notes, vanilla, “beeswax & apple-blossom” • Cellar 13 • Soft, fresh sandalwood, vanilla, mint light, to medium

  8. Glenmorangie • Palate: • 15 YO • Dry, round, smooth, very nice, chunky peatiness, citrus bites • Cellar 13 • soft, malty-sweet, with butterscotch Vanilla, and honey

  9. Glenmorangie • Finish: • 15 YO • long, dry, complex, notes of honey, vanilla, and some cocoa • Cellar 13 • buttercups, juicy, late, emphatic “Saltiness”(Jackson), long, very smooth
