  1. Sustainability plan for WIN-SA Ditshego Magoro Water Information Network- South Africa 18-19 Water Sector Leadership Group

  2. 18 June WSLG recommendations SAC to develop a sustainability plan Strengthen current SAC

  3. Point of departure Without institutionalization of knowledge management and sharing – WIN-SA programme will never be sustainable.

  4. Key issues Core issue is about the vision of the sector: KM & S WIN-SA sustainability will be irrelevant if discussed outside the vision of the sector

  5. Actions taken National stakeholders workshop on data ,information and knowledge management and sharing Relevant for sustainability of knowledge sharing in general SAC meeting held Cindy Damons (CGTA) leading the development of the SP Consensus by SAC that institutionalisation of WIN-SA is key

  6. Recommendations and way forward Sustainability plan proposes: Institutionalisation of WIN-SA by the sector ( i.e. WRC, WISA, DWA etc) Stakeholders will be invited to submit expression of interest to take WIN-SA as part of their operations ( no expectations of donor funds )

  7. Proposed Time frame EoIs have to be submitted at 12:00 on Friday 4/12/2009 Prospective hosts will receive an e-mail of receipt by 10/12/2009 Prospective hosts who have made the shortlist will be informed, and receive further requirements and dates of presentation by end of January 2010 Presentation meeting with shortlisted prospective hosts will be completed by middle of February 2010 Shortlisted prospective hosts will be notified of the decision by end of February 2010 Contracts will be finalised by end of April 2010.

  8. Other options WIN-SA to become a section 21 or provide services to the sector If the idea of getting stakeholders to express interest is not approved by WSLG or does not yield expected results, SAC will engage directly with key organisations that are considered to be the “best” in institutionalising knowledge management and sharing within the water sector.

  9. Thank you.
