The supply of nurses and paramedic is acutely short of the number required
There are 15,023 nurses instead of 295,450 and 38,537 doctors instead of 98,550 according to the WHO
One nurse for 6,625 persons and one doctor for 3,088 persons
One health worker for 5000 population in plain areas and 3000 in tribal and hilly areas
Trained dai one for each village and Pharmacists one per 10000 population

Each year a total of 2,280 students (1,790 in the government institutes and 490 in the private institutes) are admitted and around 1,200 qualify as diploma nurses.
Currently 42 institutes both in government and private sector have total seat capacity of 5,410. The current annual production capacity is 1,000 medical technologists
