  2. I don’t believe that • Cryptologists are smarter, on the whole, than formal methodists • You can’t do refinement for security • There are two kinds of theoretical CS: semantics and complexity, no middle ground • It’s all been solved (Schneider,Ryan,Lowe,...) • Our toolbox is adequate

  3. I do believe that • Abstraction and compositionality help • Both complexity theory and probability theory are in need of calculational methods • The “ABZ community” is making useful progress

  4. From ABZ to cryptography, bottom-up • Action refinement • Probability: formalisms, and refinement • Approximate refinement • Attack models • Compositionality, compositionality, compositionality.
