Time Line • 2005-08: SDE Study (Transportation) Recommends Bell Changes to Improve Service • 2/2009: GCS Transportation Department Analysis of Present Service • 3/2009: Elem/Mid/High Principals (Select Group) Provide Feedback on Results and Possible Recommendations • 4/2009: Middle School Principals Meeting with Feedback • 4/2009: High School Principals Meeting with Feedback • 9/2009: GCS Transportation Department Re-evaluates Data on Recommendations • 11/2009: Recommendations Presented to Schools for Public Feedback • 01/2010: Recommendation to the Board of Trustees for Approval “Bell Schedule Change”

Reasons for Draft Proposal • Increase Bus Windows (Time Between Schools) • Increase On time Bus Service to Middle and High Schools • Buses and Students arriving late in A.M. at Middle and High Schools • Buses and Students arriving late in P.M. at Middle and High Schools • Increase Present Bus Fleet Capacity with Limited Resources • State Department Transportation Study Recommended Bell Time Change “Bell Schedule Change”

Impact of Draft Proposal • No Change in Elementary Bell Schedule • Recommendation Will Not Impact AM Pick Up Time for Any Student (Elem/Mid/High/Career Center) • Decrease in number of Buses Late for Start of instructional day (Middle/High) • Decrease in number of buses late at the end of instructional day (Middle/High) • Students receive additional A.M. preparation time for Instructional day (Middle/High) • Decrease in PM student monitoring time by school staff for late buses (Middle/High) “Bell Schedule Change”
