  4. What is Year Round Education? • Gives schools variety of options for arranging the 180-day school calendar • YRE evenly spaces “mini” vacations – intersessions • Tracks • Multi-Track • Single-Track

Expected Results from the Implementation of a Balanced Calendar • Main Result • Improve student achievement for all groups of students (i.e. At Risk, Gifted, Special Needs, etc.) • Incidental Results (which would have a direct impact on student achievement) • Improve student attendance • Improve teacher attendance • Improve teacher, student, and parent attitudes toward school • Reduce number of discipline referrals and suspensions • Improve staff development opportunities for teachers

Intersession ClassesEnrichment • Curriculum Related Courses • Fee Based on Covering Cost – usually around $30 • ES Examples – Oceans, Rainforest, Comic Strips/Illustrations, Rockets, Multi-media Productions, Buddy Trips, etc. • MS Examples – CSI Riverton, Space Shuttle Mission, Journalism, Careers, SCUBA, Photography, 3D Design, etc. • HS Examples – Trip Based – Washington DC, Ski Trips, Chicago - Show Choir, etc.
