  3. Influences • Every women he comes in contact with dies, mother, wife/ cousin, friends mother • All of his poems are tragic

  4. What makes his Poetry Unique? • Dark • Sad/melancholy • repeated us of end rhymes ”sea”, “lee”, and “me” offer a link from stanza to stanza

  5. Poetic device 1 • "but we loved with a love more than love." "stars never rise but i see bright eyes" • Uses assonance with “love” because of the ov sound • “rise” and “eyes” because of the long I sound

  6. Poetic device 2 • “her tomb by the side of the sea” • This uses imagery because you can see the tomb next the sea uses the sight sense

  7. Poetic device 3 • “moon never beams, stars never rise” Uses hyperbole because that is impossible for the moon to never beam and never see the stars

  8. Theme • Death • Death is the theme because he is talking about how is wife dying the whole poem • The main topic is about his wife's death
