  2. Ghanaian Context • Rubber Master Plan (2001) : 14.000 ha  50.000 ha • Agro industry (GREL) and smallholders for rubber development • Current project cofinanced by KfW, AFD, GREL and smallholders • No CDM operation in Ghana to date

Carbon story • Only small part of Master Plan (eligibility to CDM  5 000 ha during 2006-2011) • ~1 M tCO2e by 2020 ; 3,7 Mt by 2030 ; 5 Mt by 2035 (on the basis of 15.000 ha) • Methodology being revised (ARNM0023) – based on Monte Carlo simulations (http://cdm.unfccc.int/) • Buyer of CERs not identified yet (despite a first encouraging UNESCO/CDC purchase of 20.000€)

Sustainable development • Poverty alleviation and wealth creation in rural areas • Communities empowerment through the growth of the farmers’ association • Improvement of banking and guarantee services to rural communities • Validation of a business model widely replicable worldwide for rubber outgrowers schemes
