  1. 500Readout Boards for the LHC experiment CMS at CERN Processing data from 10 million Silicon Detector strips (10 Terabits/sec). Multi-million pound project over several years. Designed, implemented and tested by Technology BU / Electronics Div (in collaboration with PPD, Imperial College and CERN) System now successfully delivered to CERN ahead of schedule . Large and complex double sided 14 layer PCB. Each with 6 K components incl. dozens of fine pitched BGAs Massively parallel FPGA Digital processing ; ADCs ; Optical Receivers Very demanding manufacturing challenge. Carried out in partnership with UK industry, eXception EMS Ltd one of recipients of CMS Gold award for Industry at CERN 2006 Boards boxed and ready at RAL Quarter of final system commissioned at CERN in January 2006
