If you don’t know how to use the internet without flaws then you can’t use the internet to its full potential. There are many different forms of Digital Literacy. We will take you through the few branches of Digital Literacy and show you what it means to be Digital Literate.
  8. Different Forms of Digital Literacy +Entertainment +Freedom and Customization +Scrutiny and Integrity +Speed and Innovation +Collaboration
  9. Digital Entertainment There are many different ways to entertain yourself on the internet. Some people play online video games such as miniclip.com and addictinggames.com. Some people watch videos on YouTube and stuff. Some people listen to music on online radio sites. Hulu.com is a site in which you watch movies and TV shows that you can view on TV. There are a lot of other forms of entertainment on the internet depending on what entertains you.
  10. Freedom and Customization The internet provides a digital freedom that lets you talk to a friend, research information faster and more productively and ect.. With the internet, people can decide on their own what to do on it. They feel free to do what the please. This freedom should be taken responsibly, carefully and appropriately. It is the same with customization; people do what the want to their homepage on facebook or igoogle or they decide what to put on their blog. This freedom should also be taken cautiously.
  11. Scrutiny and Integrity Scrutiny and integrity on the internet is knowing who to trust and what to trust with your personal info and such. The internet has become a major place in which frauds and scammers have used to take advantage of people. There are many frauds and people out there who want to take advantage of people on the internet and scrutinizing them from the people who are actually serious about something is scrutiny and integrity on the internet.
  12. Speed and Innovation The internet, even though we may get mad when it doesn’t load a page as fast as we’d like it to, is extremely fast. We go onto the Google search engine and type in words and we get responses in seconds. But when we go onto email, it isn’t instant because the person might not respond right away. Now with the new times, people prefer “IM” or instant messaging because it is really instant. When things change or people make new ways to do something it is called innovation. When a car or a type of phone comes out people go out and buy it. Then the next month a new model comes out and its new and improved and then those same people go out and buy that next model.
  13. Collaboration Collaboration on the internet is people working together to create something online. If you are to work with other people online you need to be Digital Literate. If you aren’t digital literate you won’t be able to use the wide varieties of programs and then you won’t be able to collaborate with other people online. If you are to collaborate online or to do anything without flaws on the internet, you first need to become digitally literate.
