RoHS Overview • RoHS: Restrictions of Hazardous Substances • Aims of legislation: • Reduce environmental impacts of waste/improve recycling. • Overview: • Restricts the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium and more. • Basically all Electronic Products and Components are affected • The responsible party is the “Producer” (party which stamps the brand name). • Non RoHS compliant components are allowed as spare parts to repair equipment put on the market before July 2006. • Effective 1 July 2006

RoHS Overview • All products sold by Intermec in affected EMEA countries after June 30th will be RoHS compliant • We will continue delivering current products (RoHS and non-RoHS compliant), in the rest of the world until non-RoHS products reach End of Life status: • North America • Latin America • Asia Pacific • Some parts of EMEA: • West European countries not in CEE: Iceland, Liechtenstein • Central and Eastern European countries: Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, Armenia, Uzbekistan, etc. • Middle East • Africa • Distributors and Resellers are allowed to sell non RoHS compliant products - if bought before June 30th • RoHS does not affect Media, Software or Spare Parts

Computers Key Take-aways • Every effort was made to minimize changes for ROHS • RoHS Products on Smartsystem did not move to a new version unless no choice • Staying on V. 4.03: CK30, CK31, CN2B,730,7X1, CV60 • Releasing with SSPB 5: CN3, CV30, CK61, CN30 • CN30 and CK61 will continue with the current configuration into Q4 2006. • New RoHS Product availability will be on the GSS RoHS web page and updated weekly • Order non-ROhs product until customer service indicates that new orders should be placed for ROhs compatible products or accessories

Scanner Key Take-aways • Major Overhaul of Scanners in 2006 & 2007 • SR61 – First Cordless Imager for IN, MEMS lasers • New EA11 imager – best imager performance ever! • Long Range versions of SR61 are on the way. • Conflux of changes (RoHS, Engines, etc) has resulted in Product Line Challenges including transition gaps • Laser configurations of 1550/1551/1552 • LR, new supply received, backlog shipping • ALR, 5-6 week availability gap • SR, 8 week availability gap • Shift business to 1400 linear imager and SR61 where possible. • Near/Long Range • SR60 offers longer near and far reading capabilities than 1553 • SR61 with new engine options in Q1, 2007 will offer advanced near/far capability • KBW functionality in Bluetooth scanners (SF51 & SR61) • New Keyport Lite with Int’l keyboards in test • 2455 cable for SR60 • Cable is available today, cable with special overmold is on the way

RFID Key Take-aways • RoHS versions of ALL RFID readers include performance improvements • EPC Gen 2 Dense Reader Mode • Faster Gen 2 tag read rates • RoHS compliant readers will support the BRI application interface, which is required for Gen 2 air-interface applications • RoHs version will not support the T6 application interface • Pre-RoHs compliant readers will quickly reach EOB status • Intermec will continue to accept orders for pre-RoHS compliant readers until November 1, 2006 for shipments on or before December 21, 2006 • Agency certifications for RoHS compliant readers are planned for the following: • At PQA: US/Canada, EU/EFTA, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, AUZ, UAE, South Africa, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, Mexico, Brazil. • PQA + 90 days: Malaysia, Taiwan, Philippines, India, Egypt, Morocco, Chile, Argentina, Russia, Indonesia • Gen 2 RFID tags are unaffected by RoHS transition

Global Service • Repair and Support • Minimal additional training and no new test fixtures are required to repair or support ROHS compliant vs. non-ROHS devices • Additional software for the test fixture may be required for some products • Repair philosophy will continue to be module level replacement • Component level replacement will require training on solder techniques • Training is limited to Intermec direct depots or Intermec component repair vendors only • Spare Parts • Many ROHS spare parts are not backward compatible • Part numbers for some modules, main boards, & LCDs for example, between some non-ROHS and ROHS models are different and additional inventory administration will be required based on customer population • ROHS compliant spare parts will be orderable globally by July 31 • $5M in last time buy orders have been placed for non-ROHS spares • Last time buy orders were placed against forecast of supporting customers for a minimum of three years from EOB for each device • Ability to migrate customers to newer technology will influence service’s ability to extend support.
