  2. Municipality of Pernik Pernik Municipality is located to the south-west of Bulgaria. Pernik town is a regional centre. The total surface of the Municipality is About 484sq. m. The population numbers 100 000inhabitants.

  4. Location Municipality of Pernik, SofiaRegion,is only 30 km southeast of our capital Sofia. Pernik is close to: • internation transport corridors 8 and 4; • motorway Sofia- Pernik -Tran -Serbia; • motorway Sofia- Pernik- Kyustendil - Skopie; • motorway Sofia- Pernik -Blagoevgrad -Thessaloniki; • Sofia-Blagoevgrad -Greece railway; • and 40 km away from Sofia International Airport; • Motorway “Lyulin” is under construction.

  5. Project idea • Joining the efforts of Pernik Municipality, companies and R&D structures in the region for building and managing of for large-scale Business park ‘Pernik-East’ in the Eastern Industrial zone of Pernik.

  7. Preconditions This idea can be implemented due to the following economical preconditions: 1. Pernik Municipality developed a “Plan for development of Pernik Municipality 2007-2013” according to Law Regional development and National strategy for development. This plan includes the project for building up of large – scale building “Business Park – Pernik - East”; 2. A separate part on the territory of the municipality of about500 000 s. m., on which there are conditions for supporting investment projects of certain potential Bulgarian and foreign persons; 3. Possibilities for effective use of the geographical advantages of the district – built up transport and railway networks, a vicinity to the capital of Sofia, crossroads of international motorways; 4. Possibilities for practical application of different instruments of PPP.

Activities • Feasibility study elaboration for Business park ‘Pernik-East’ development as common management structure for the part of old industrial zone; • Drafting of Detailed Master plan for Business park ‘Pernik-East’ and area development; • Design of draft technical project for building Business park ‘Pernik-East’; • Design of draft technical documentation for PPP funded infrastructural development project – Business park ‘Pernik-East’; • Integrated strategies for future development of local/regional industries; • Marketing of local industries and attraction of investments.
