  1. 18- 26 August 2007 The Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy Turbulent Mixing and Beyond International Conference summary and perspectives

  2. What were the Conference objectives? • to expose the generic problem of • Turbulence and Turbulent Mixing in Unsteady Flows • to a wide scientific community • to promote the development of new ideas in tackling • the fundamental aspects of the problem • to assist in application of novel approaches in a • broad range of phenomena, • where the turbulent processes occur • to start bridging the gap between the • fundamental research and technology If the meeting leaves you with a feeling that you have learned something new from the research frontiers and have met like-minded colleagues – our work is done. Please, let us know what do you think: tmbw07@ictp.it

  6. We gratefully acknowledge the contribution of all our participants Success of the TMBW consists from the successful work of all of us. Thank you for offering to the TMBW your best research results and ideas. Thank you for the highlightening the strongest parts of your contributions. Thank you for being serious, responsible and respectful. It was a real pleasure to work together.

  7. Our very near future • Presentations: email to tmbw07@ictp.it in pdf format • Proceedings: Proc Royal Society – only 10 papers (to expose the field and maintain the scope), Special Issue • Physica Scripta – all presentations, Topical Issue • Papers of letter size, no more than 8-10 pages, deadline is 22 Oct 2007 • email to tmbw07@ictp.it in pdf format • Referees: all papers will be peer-reviewed, similarly to the abstracts we will ask for an advice the Scientific Advisory Committee • Information flux: • - maintaining the web-page for exchange of information and collaboration • development of an e-infrastructure to encourage interactions within • our research community - links to Wikipedia for connections and problem exposition

  8. Turbulent Mixing and Beyond International Conference We have a plan for a next conference, TMBW-09, to be held at the ICTP, in June 2009 • Mission and Goals: • to maintain the wide scope • to focus on hard and fundamental problems • to strengthen and maintain the quality of research, • using rigorous approaches • to be a highly informative meeting

  9. Related Logistics Why the ICTP? UNESCO organization, east/west communications connections, extensive experience in international conferences, developed infrastructure Program? We are flexible and open-minded. Your suggestions, ideas, comments are warmly appreciated. Funding? We were able to collect reasonable amount of funds Sponsorship and co-sponsorship are welcome Your suggestions, ideas, comments are warmly appreciated. Let us keep in touch

  10. Welcome to the TMBW!
