  2. Instructions • Throughout this learning program you will learn about many different frogs. You will learn about habitat, scientific name, and the organs of the frog. • Read each slide thoroughly. • When you think you have learned about that slide click the button to move on. • You will have an opportunity to quiz yourself several times throughout the program. • At the end of the program there will be an evaluation over everything you have learned from the program.

  3. MOTIVATION You will use your prior knowledge of frogs and amphibians to help you along the way during this program. If you are having trouble remembering the things about frogs this program will help you do better. Also during this program you will learn and understand more about how your own organs work and what they look like because the frogs organs are almost exactly the same as a humans.

Pacific Tree Frog Scientific name: Hyla Regilla Picture adapted from : http://bss.sfsu.edu/holzman/courses/Fall01%20projects/regilla.htm.htm • The pacific tree frog is found Along the western coast of North America. • Western Montana and Nevada is the furthest east they can be found. But it can also be found in Cerros and Santa Cruz islands west of California. • This frog is more of a nocturnal amphibian because it can’t handle hot dry climates. Green Tree Frog Scientific name: Hyla Cinerea Picture adapted from: http://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/resources/paul_kosnik/hc.jpg/view.html • Green Tree Frogs are found anywhere from Virginia over to the northern tip of Texas • They live in environments such as ponds, large lakes, and marshes. These habitats have a lot of floating vegetation which is why these frogs are there. • They are found in the canopy of trees in these environments and mostly in sunny areas because its easier to find insects in the sunny areas. Blue Poison Dart Frog • These frogs are only found in the southern most part of South America in the Sipaliwini Savannah. • They live in a hot Humid environment ranging from 22 – 27 degrees Celsius. • They are found in a dark moist area near small streams or rivers with slow moving water. Fun facts • There are a few ways to tell the difference between male and female frogs. 2 ways are males have 2 kidneys and the females only have one and males tympanic membrane is larger than their eyes and the females aren’t. • The frogs tongue is a very interesting thing. It is attached in the front of the mouth so that it can flick out to catch insects. • Frogs have two kinds of teeth. The names of the teeth are: vomerine teeth which are on the roof of the mouth and all frogs have two of them, and the maxillary teeth which are located around the bottom of the mouth.
