  1. Character Parker Selfridge By April, Sally, Emily and Jane.

Parker Selfridge… • In the movie Avatar there is a character named Parker Selfridge. • He is the corporate administrator of the RDA Corporation. • In the beginning of the movie he is prepared to use force to destroy the Na’vi and maintain the needs of the company. • He is hesitant to order attacks on the Na’vi and does so only after Quaritch convinces him to do so. • When he sees the brutality of the attacks he is visibly uncomfortable.

  3. What does Selfridge Say… “Quotes and Dialogue from the movie” From this dialogue we can see that he does not understand this world that he is in or the people who live there. He is unaware of the life and spirituality of the world around him, and is ignorant to learn about it therefore is careless about the actions that he makes. When the bulldozers destroy one of the trees he doesn’t realise how important it was to the Na’vi. • “keep going he’ll move… These people have to learn that we don’t stop”. • “You throw a stick around here it’s going land on some sacred fern… They’re just goddamn trees”. • They’re fly bitten savages that live in a tree… I don’t know about you but I see a lot more trees, they can move”.

  4. What is his environment like and how does he look when we see him… Lighting and Colours: When we see Selfridge half of his face is in shadow. The environment he is in is the RDA Corporation base where the lighting is artificial and is low key, and has blue filters. The blue filters are dark and harsh making everything feel cold or threatening.

  5. Angles Of Selfridge… Camera Shots and Angles: Here in this shot we see him by himself at a bit of a low angle and has a sort of fierce look on his face. This makes him appear powerful or in control of things. But when we see him standing next to other people like Quaritch he is quite a small person therefore, looks less powerful and threatening. This also shows that he is quite a weak person although he seems to have all the power.
