Balanced Reading Program Traditional Reading program: Phonics, fluency, vocabulary “Sound it out” Whole Language Reading programs: Focus on word meaning and strategy Sight reading or “Look-Say”(Dick and Jane) Guided reading groups and read alouds Balanced Reading programs: Combination of the two

Lessons • 10 Maps, 10 Lessons Each • Lesson features “Main Lesson” from Critter, activities, and a Book. • Each Lesson ends with the hatching of a new 3D Reading Eggs Critter. • Early Lessons (1-40) are sequential • Scope and Sequence (loosely) • Lesson 1-50 Pre-K/K • Lesson 51-80 Grade 1 • Lesson 81-100 Grade 2
