  6. 5 A DAY Programme Aims to increase fruit & vegetable consumption by improving access to & availability of fruit & veg., and improving attitudes & awareness. • School Fruit & Vegetable Scheme (98% sign up in NW) • Local 5 A DAY initiatives (17 in NW - 66 nationally) • Partnership working – OGDs, agencies, industry, NGOs etc • Communications programme, including 5 A DAY logo • Evaluation and monitoring

  7. 259 stores throughout the UK – price focused The community retailer covering 150 towns & 6 cities 10 million Minute Maids sold through McDonalds each week

Food in Schools Programme • Joint DH & DfES • Aim - To enable schools to develop and implement sustainable in-house strategies for improving the nutrition and diet of children. • 8 projects – breakfast clubs, tuck shops, vending machines, water provision, dining room environment, lunch boxes, cookery clubs, growing clubs • All with a healthier focus • Healthy Living Blueprint

  10. Food Standards Agency Key aims: • reduce foodborne illness by 20% by improving food safety right through the food chain • help people to eat more healthily - Increasing activity on diet & health - Action Plan for Food Promotion to Children - School food reports
