  1. Peripherals Devices • Submitted By-Ashish KatariaUPS Bhankla Rampur (Block) Saharanpur(u.p) SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  2. Peripherals • The term peripherals refers to all hardware devices that are attached to your computer and are controlled by your computer system • Peripherals can be classified into input devices and output devices. • Some can be both an input device and an output device SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  3. Input Devices • An input device is a piece of equipment that enables data to be entered into a computer for example: • Web Camera • Digital Camera • Scanner • MICR • Keyboard • Mouse • Joystick • BCR SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  4. Keyboards • The keyboard is made up of push-button switches which send a signal to the CPU each time you press them. • CUI mode • 104-108 keys are used in standard keyboards • Alphabetic keys A-Z • Numeric keys 0-9 • Special character key are used special symbol • Special Key(print screen) • Function key(F1,F2,F3 i.e) SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  5. Mouse • A roller mouse has a ball that is rolled as the mouse is moved about on the desktop. • Pointing and clicking allows operations to be performed without having to remember complicated keyboard commands. • Optical mice are superseding ball mice and use a light instead of a ball. SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  6. Digital Cameras • Allow us to capture images and transfer them to a computer in the form of an image file. • Image quality is measured in pixels. • Some digital cameras can capture small amounts of video. SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  7. Scanners • Scanners allow us to capture an image or text and convert it into digital form. • Optical Character Recognition (OCR) softwar converts the picture of the scanned text into true e text that can be processed further in an application such as Word. SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  8. Joy Stick • A lever that moves in all directions and controls the movement of a pointer or some other display symbol. A Joy stick is similar to mouse • Joy stick include two buttons is called triggers • Joy stick are used mostly for computer games SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  9. BCR( Barcode Reader) • Barcode reader captures and translate the barcode into numbers and/or letters the data must be sent to a computer so that the a software application can make sense of the data. Barcode reader can be connected through a serial port.BCR works by directing a beam of light across the bar code and measuring the amount of light that is reflected back, SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  10. MICR(Magnetic Ink Character Recognition ) • Magnetic Ink Character Recognition is a character recognition system that uses special ink and characters. When a document that contains this ink needs to be read, it passes through a machine, which magnetizes the ink and then translates the magnetic information into characters. • MICR technology is used by banks. Numbers and characters found on the bottom of checks (usually containing the check number, sort number, and account number) are printed using Magnetic Ink. SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  11. Output Devices • Output devices allow information to output from a computer. • Examples of output devices are: • Projectors • Plotters • Monitors • Printers SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  12. Monitors • The monitor or visual display unit (VDU) is the most significant output device. • Desktop displays use a cathode ray tube (CRT) • Laptops incorporate liquid crystal display (LCD) • Plasma SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  13. Plotter • A device that draws pictures on paper based on commands from a computer. Plotters differ from printers in that they draw lines using a pen. As a result, they can produce continuous lines, whereas printers can only simulate lines by printing a closely spaced series of dots. Multicolor plotters use different-colored pens to draw different colors. • In general, plotters are considerably more expensive than printers. They are used in engineering applications where precision is mandatory. SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  14. Printers • The types printer include: • Laser – Expensive, used mostly in medium to large organisations • Ink Jet – Typically found in small business and SOHO • Dot Matrix – Found mostly in large organisations for printing process reports and large volumes of data SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  15. Projector • An output device that can take the display of computer screen and project a large version of into a flat surface. • Pojector are often use in meetings and presentation to help make sure everyone in the room can view the presentation.

  16. Message for all people SarvaSikshaAbhiyan

  17. Midday Meal • Mid day meal scheme is national programme which provides cooked nutritional food support to poor children of all the state owned school.
