  1. A Little Bit of History Marijuana was first recognized in Chinese manuscript around the year 2700 B.C. Later the explorers of the New World took in this plant in 1545. It was also used as a crop for many of the early settlers in 1607, which was the year that cultivation of this plant started. From the seventeenth to mid-twentieth century, marijuana was used for certain types of aches being used as an everyday drug, just like people do today. After the Mexican Revolution trafficking of this plant started taking place. Musicians started advertising the drug stating that it gave them the inspiration they needed to create mind blowing music. In 1937 forty six states illegalized marijuana. Still today some states are trying decriminalize if not legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes.

  2. Quotes From Familiar Faces • "It really puzzles me to see marijuana connected with narcotics . . . dope and all that crap. It's a thousand times better than whiskey - it's an assistant - a friend." Louis Armstrong • "That is not a drug. It’s a leaf,"  Arnold Schwarzenegger • "Hemp is of first necessity to the wealth & protection of the country." Thomas Jefferson • "Make the most you can of the Indian Hemp seed and sow it everywhere." George Washington • "When I was in England, I experimented with marijuana a time or two, and I didn't like it, and I didn't inhale, and I never tried again." Bill Clinton

  3. Quotes Part Two. • "When I was a kid I inhaled frequently. That was the point." BarackObama • "There's been no top authority saying what marijuana does to you. I really don't know that much about it. I tried it once but it didn't do anything to me." John Wayne  • "I enjoy smoking cannabis and see no harm in it". Jennifer Aniston • "Penalties against possession of a drug should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself; and where they are, they should be changed. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against possession of marihuana in private for personal use... Therefore, I support legislation amending Federal law to eliminate all Federal criminal penalties for the possession of up to one ounce of marihuana." - Jimmy Carter • "We shall, by and by, want a world of hemp more for our own consumption."  John Adams • "If someone wants to do drugs … as long as he or she isn’t corrupting minors or driving under the influence or endangering others, shouldn’t a person have that right?" Brad Pitt

  4. What Exactly is Marijuana? Marijuana is a mixture of flowers, stems, and leaves. The active psychoactive ingredients is the plants THC or Δ9tetrahyrocannabinol. This is a minor form of acid and is what gets the user “high.” Buds only come from the female marijuana plant and this is what the user would inhale.

  5. Commonly Used Names • Marijuana • Ganja • Weed • Mary Jane • Cannabis • Green • Dank • Chronic • Smoke

  6. Foods and ways of using marijuana Many medical marijuana dispensaries have a variety of more than just straight marijuana. There are numerous ways in using marijuana. You can smoke it, drink it, vaporize it, or eat it. Here are some common eats that you might find in a medical marijuana dispensary. Hash cake (Which is just a dense form of THC mixed with cake batter) Lollipop (Which has a caramelized version of THC mixed in with flavored candy) Tea (Which has regular tea mixed with the heated THC) Brownies (Probably the most commonly used food. Brownie batter mixed with heated marijuana.) Cannabutter (This is just basically butter with marijuana) All of these forms have the same effect and can all help prescribed patients.

  9. What are other uses for this plant? Marijuana is a cheap effective drug that is all natural and no patient could possibly overdose on the drug.

  10. States that have Leniency on Marijuana -Alaska -Arizona -California -Colorado -Massachusetts -Michigan -Nevada -New Hampshire -Oregon

  11. Why legalize Medical Marijuana -Nausea-Head ache pain -Alzheimer's disease -Sleep disorders -Anorexia -Diabetes -Many other aches Marijuana helps cure The DEA states that there are no medicinal values in marijuana yet patient after patient seems to think differently. -THC actually activates naturally produced receptors in order to help fight lung cancer.

  12. Medicinal Facts. Harvard has done studies testing THC in chemical labs. "The beauty of this study is that we are showing that a substance of abuse, if used prudently, may offer a new road to therapy against lung cancer," said AnjuPreet, Ph.D., a researcher in the Division of Experimental Medicine. “Acting through cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2, endocannabinoids (as well as THC) are thought to play a role in variety of biological functions, including pain and anxiety control, and inflammation.” says Harvard scientists. “Then, for three weeks, researchers injected standard doses of THC into mice that had been implanted with human lung cancer cells, and found that tumors were reduced in size and weight by about 50 percent in treated animals compared to a control group. There was also about a 60 percent reduction in cancer lesions on the lungs in these mice as well as a significant reduction in protein markers associated with cancer progression”, Preet says. “When the rats who had received the cannabinoid were placed under stress, they showed fewer signs of anxiety and depression than rats who had not had the treatment. When neurogenesis was halted in these rats using X-rays, this effect disappeared, indicating that the new cell growth might be responsible for the behavioral changes.”

  13. Interesting Facts -Dr. Robert Melamede Ph.D. and Cannabis Science Inc. claim that CannabinoidTreatment could possibly work as a cure for the Swine Flu. -George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Benjamin Franklin all were advocates of hemp. -Barrack Obama “inhaled frequently” -Marijuana has never caused any death or disease. -According to a poll taken by CBS news 41% of Americans are for the legalization of marijuana and 52% are opposed. -Many politicians are fighting for the legalization. -Many cities in the U.S have already allowed medical marijuana dispensaries. -Believe it or not the DEA is against medical marijuana saying it has no positive effects towards the patients that use it what so ever, despite studies from Harvard.
