  2. During His Earthly Life • Scribes and Pharisees asked “Who is this…” • Religious leaders questioned, “Who is the man” • Those dining with Jesus, “Who is this…” • His disciples, “What manner of man is this…” • Herod the Tetrarch, “Who is this…” • Saul of Tarsus, “Who are you, Lord”

  3. Even Today The Question Is Asked • Wealthy Alaskan student, “Who is this Jesus?” • Lord of Life or Lord of Liars? • Deity or Deceiver? • Master or Madman? • Who Is this Jesus?

  4. One Solitary Life • He was born in an obscure village, • the child of a peasant woman • He grew up in still another village • where He worked in a carpenter shop • until He was thirty.

  5. Then for three years • He was an I itinerant preacher • He never wrote a book. • He never held an office • He never had a family • or owned a house. • He didn’t go to college.

  6. He never visited a big city. • He never traveled two hundred miles • from the place where he was born. • He did none of the things one usually • associates with greatness. • He had no credentials but Himself.

  7. He was only thirty-three when • the tide of public opinion turned against Him • His friends ran away. • He was turned over to His enemies • and went through the mockery of a trial. • He was nailed to a cross between two thieves • Soldiers gambled for His clothing, the only property He had on earth

  8. When He was dead He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend. • Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today He is the central figure of the human race and the leader of mankind’s progress

  9. All the armies that ever marched all the navies that ever sailed all the parliaments that ever sat all the kings that ever reigned put together, have not affected the life of man on this earth as much as that One Solitary Life.

  10. He Changed the Course of History • Every nation notes the effect of Christ • Legal documents date His birth • Every letter postmark makes reference • Institutions erected in His name • Churches, hospitals orphanages, schools • Thousands willing to give lives as missionaries

  11. Jesus Raised The Question to Pharisees • “What do you think about Christ?” • “Whose son is He?” • How can a descendant of King David be David’s Lord

  12. What His Enemies Said • The Pharisees • Caiphas, the High Priest • Pilate, the Governor of Judea • Judas, who betrayed Him • The centurion at the crucifixion • The thief Who died beside Him

  13. What His Friends Said • John the Baptist • Peter • John • Thomas • Martha • Saul

  14. What Those In Heaven Said • Gabriel, the Archangel • Redeemed Saints in Heaven • The Heavenly Father

  15. What Jesus Said About Himself • He was One with the Father • He has all power in Heaven and Earth • Has power to forgive sins • Has right to be worshipped as God • He came from Heaven • He is One Who will resurrect dead

  16. What Jesus Said About Himself Continued • He gives life to all who trust Him • He never failed to please the Father • He was the I AM Who spoke to Moses • He is the only way to the Father

  17. What Do You Say About Jesus? • Is He your Savior? • From penalty, power, presence of sin • Is He Christ, (Messiah) “The Anointed One”? • Prophet - John 14:9 • Priest - Hebrews 10:12: 4:14-16 • King - Revelation 20:4-6
