  3. Present Subjuntive p. 389 • Verbs ending in -car, -gar, & -zar have spelling changes: • buscar → busque, busques… • pagar → pague, pagues… • empezar → empiece, empieces…

  4. Present Subjuntive p. 389 • Verbs with irregular yo forms for the indicative use that same form for all of the subjunctive: • tener → yo tengo → teng- → …que tú tengas • decir → yo digo → dig- → …que tú digas • conocer → yo conozco → conozc- → …que tú conozcas

  8. When do we use the subjuntive?p. 392 • Two part sentence – usually with two different subjects and separated by que: • Yo quiero que tú vayas al supermercado. • Marco está contento que su hijaLucia haga la tarea.

When do we use the subjuntive?p. 392 • When the the verb in the first part of sentence is a verb of: • desire (querer, desear, esperar) • Ana desea que Pablo venga a verla. • emotion (alegrarse, temarse, estar + adjective) • Ana se alegra que Pablo venga a verla. • doubt (dudar, no estar cierto) • Ana duda que Pablo venga a verla. • requests or recommendations (pedir, mandar, recomendar) • Ana pide que Pablo venga a verla. • impersonal opinion – ser + adjective • Es posibile que Pablo venga a ver a Ana.
